Our Commitment to Serving You

PreFix remains committed to serving you and our Austin-area community during this uniquely challenging time. We will resume full home maintenance services beginning Wednesday, March 25th.


Many of you have reached out for additional home maintenance support for your parents, families, friends, and neighbors. We’re ready to help.     


1. Effective immediately we are offering two months of FREE PreFix membership to all new customers within the Greater Austin community.


2. Additionally, we will offer FREE emergency repair service to vulnerable homeowners in our community, including the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

What We’re Doing to Keep Our Home Visits Safe


We’ve implemented strict safety and health protocols that go beyond those recommended by the CDC, OSHA and the World Health Organization:


  • If you’re unavailable, unwell, or if you know you’ve come into contact with someone who’s unwell to minimize risks to our employees and other customers, we ask that you reschedule your appointment.
  • All new customer enrollments will now be conducted virtually.
  • During each home visit, every Home Manager will take great care to follow the additional guidelines for minimizing risks including washing/sanitizing hands, wearing gloves and following social distance guidelines.
  • In line with the recommendations, we ask for your understanding that while our team is always pleased to see you, we won’t be shaking hands during this time.
  • We've enhanced our already robust cleaning techniques of our service vehicles and equipment to include sanitizing of steering wheels, handles, gear shifts after every visit. Fresh gloves and shoe coverings will be used after every visit.
  • Our Home Manager team is now fully remote in full compliance with social distance guidelines. 


For you and our team members safety, we have instituted additional home visit protocols:


  • Your Home Manager will call you the evening before your scheduled home visit and review your home entry plan in accordance with the CDC’s social separation recommendations.
  • We may ask that you wait in a separate room, enjoy some fresh air outside or discuss another agreed-upon spot to distance yourself while we perform maintenance and repairs. 
  • 15 min prior to our arrival for your home visit, your Home Manager will call you to provide adequate time to prepare for your home entry plan.
  • During your home visit, your Home Manager will take great care and follow the additional guidelines for minimizing risks including washing/sanitizing hands, wearing fresh gloves and shoe coverings and outstanding personal hygiene.

COVID-19

As recommendations regarding COVID-19 continue to evolve quickly, the PreFix team continues to monitor the local situation in Austin and follow the recommendations from the CDC, OSHA and the World Health Organization as well as following the CAP (Community Acquired Pneumonia) protocols for every member of the PreFix team. We remain committed to serving you and making transparent and mindful choices to protect your household and our team members.


To minimize any risk to our employees and other customers, we are requesting to reschedule all non-emergency repairs through March 24th.


While health and safety standards and procedures are followed on a daily basis with every member of the PreFix team, we wanted to make you aware of the extra precautions we're taking to ensure everyone stays healthy during this time of heightened concern about Coronavirus (COVID-19).



Precautions we’re taking during home visits:


  • As all our team members are employees, not contractors, we’re able to provide an additional level of reassurance that we now perform a daily health check of each employee which includes an assessment of any symptoms and daily temperature checks according to CAP (Community Acquired Pneumonia) protocols.
  • During each home visit, every Home Manager will take great care to follow the additional guidelines for minimizing risks including washing/sanitizing hands, wearing gloves and outstanding personal hygiene.

  • We would be most grateful if you reschedule appointments if you’re unavailable, unwell, or if you know you’ve come into contact with someone who’s unwell to minimize risks to our employees and other customers. We will happily reschedule your appointment.

  • We’re doing daily cleaning and sanitizing of our Austin office with recommended products and frequency in line with CAP protocols.

PreFix Closes New Funding Round led by Chicago Ventures

PreFix is pleased to announce the close of its most recent funding round. The round was led by Chicago Ventures and oversubscribed.  Other investors include Brand Foundry Ventures, Brian Spaly (Founder, Bonobos and Trunk Club), Paul Hedrick (Founder/CEO, Tecovas), Brett Hurt (Founder/CEO, Bazaarvoice and data.world) and Firebrand Ventures. Rob Chesney, a partner at Chicago Ventures and former COO of Trunk Club will be joining our board. (You can read Chicago Ventures’ announcement of their investment here).


We couldn’t be happier with the new investors joining the team and are very excited to start this next phase of growth with them. Nearly all of them come from operating backgrounds where they have rapidly scaled operationally-intensive businesses and digitally native brands. It takes a lot of work to solve some of our customers’ biggest problems. We’re thrilled to have investors who are also not afraid to roll up their sleeves.


They also share our vision of making lives better by enabling people to focus less on the stuff they own and more on the experiences that will truly make them happier. The funding will support our continued expansion in Central Texas, help us launch in other new markets, and expand the portfolio of services we offer to our members. We have just expanded coverage to a number of new zip codes this month which include the Avery Ranch and Circle C communities. We will be launching in Cedar Park/Leander shortly and will continue to add new zip codes monthly.
